Inuk filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk (ATANARJUAT: THE FAST RUNNER, Caméra d'Or winner at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival) returns with an Arctic epic inspired by the classic 1956 John Ford Western of the same name. Nunavut, circa 1913: when Kuanana (Benjamin Kunuk) returns from hunting caribou to find his wife and daughter kidnapped and his home ransacked, he sets off across the barren Arctic with his band of maliglutit (followers) and his father's spirit helper — the loon Kallulik — to overturn fate, reap revenge and reunite his family. DIR/SCR/PROD Zacharias Kunuk; DIR Natar Ungalaaq; SCR Norman Cohn; PROD Cara Di Staulo, Jonathan Frantz. Canada, 2016, color, 94 min. In Inuktitut with English subtitles. NOT RATED
