Oscar®-nominated director/writer Sarah Polley (AWAY FROM HER, TAKE THIS WALTZ) is both filmmaker and detective in this genre-twisting documentary about her own complicated family history. Exploring slippery notions of memory, truth and identity, Polley investigates the relationship between her parents, interweaving candid interviews with Super 8 recreations of a memoir narrated by Polley's father. As various characters relate their version of the family mythology, present-day recollections shift into nostalgia-tinged glimpses of Polley's mother, who died in 1990. As inconsistences and paradoxes emerge, Polley paints a complicated and loving portrait of her family, finding her way to truths that move beyond mere fact. DIR/SCR Sarah Polley; PROD Anita Lee.
