Nearly 20 years after the 1998 Good Friday Agreement brought three decades of violent conflict to an end, BORN AND REARED explores Northern Ireland through the stories of four very different men, from different generations. Firmly rooted in the Northern Ireland of today, the film follows the men over the course of a year, reflecting on a population struggling to come to terms with the horrors and the sacrifices of its recent history and turning to face a future defined by hope, rather than regret. In a society where masculinity has long been measured in violence and aggression, BORN AND REARED weaves together a tapestry of contemporary stories that speak to the nuanced facets of male identity in contemporary Northern Ireland. Official Selection, 2016 Galway Film Fleadh. DIR/PROD Henrietta Norton; PROD Dan Dennison. Ireland, 2016, color, 67 min. NOT RATED
