ABB. & COST. MEET FRANKENSTEIN with THE WOLF MAN

Presented by Count Gore De Vol!

Double Feature: ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN with THE WOLF MAN (1941)

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN
Whatever combination of desperation and inspiration set Universal on the path to pairing the comedy duo of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello with the studio's classic roster of movie monsters, it led to the comedians' funniest feature film, hit pay dirt at the box office and has delighted audiences for generations. In a rare instance of movie marketing underselling the picture, Bud and Lou meet not only the Frankenstein Monster but Count Dracula and the Wolf Man to boot. A power-mad Dracula plots world domination by adding the Frankenstein Monster to his army of underlings, but first must replace the Monster's restless brain with one from the more pliable Lou. Big mistake!

THE WOLF MAN (1941)
"Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright." After a run-in with a creepy carny gypsy (Bela Lugosi), nice-guy Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney, Jr.) and friends are attacked in the woods by an enormous wolf. Talbot clubs it with his cane, suffering a bite wound in the process, but the next morning the police find not a wolf, but the dead gypsy. That night, Talbot discovers his terrible misfortune when he transforms into…The Wolf Man! As the cursed lycanthrope, the hangdog Chaney makes for the most sympathetic of screen monsters. The outstanding supporting cast includes Claude Rains, Warren William, Ralph Bellamy and Maria Ouspenskaya.
