Q&A with filmmaker Ben Chace and composer Aruán Ortiz

When 70-year-old Luis Vargas learns of the death of Isabela Muñoz, a renowned modern dancer and former lover, he is haunted by the memories of their brief but significant affair. His mind drifts to 1967 and to a portion of a melody to which she danced. Hoping to complete the gaps in his memory, he hits the streets of Havana with a guitar, but only drifts deeper into the past, beginning to see parallels in the marriage of his young neighbors with that of his own lost love. Filmmaker Ben Chace shot the film on Super 16mm, the film grain bringing a sensual and ethereal quality to the first U.S. feature to be shot entirely in Cuba since 1959. Official Selection, 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival.
