Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel, THE WHITE RIBBON) lives an idyllic life in the Polish countryside with his wife (Sandra Hüller, ANATOMY OF A FALL, TONI ERDMANN) and children. But a sinister reality exists: their home shares a wall with Auschwitz, and Rudolf is its chief commandant. While the camera never reveals what's over their garden wall, the horrors of the Holocaust lie just beyond, a constant reminder of the true banality of evil.
