Venezuelan directing duo Alejandro Rojas and Juan Sebastián Vasquez announce themselves as major talents with UPON ENTRY, a tense, suspenseful feature debut set entirely in an airport's claustrophobic immigration area. Happy couple Diego (Alberto Ammann, CELL 211, NARCOS), a Venezuelan urbanist, and Elena (Bruna Cusí, SUMMER 1993), a contemporary dancer from Barcelona, move to the U.S. from Spain with their approved visas to start a new life. Upon arrival at Newark's airport, they're taken for additional screening and subjected to a grueling, humiliating cross-examination, as their interrogators are convinced the couple has something to hide. Strong performances from Ammann and Cusí, combined with tight editing and subtle yet effective cinematography, result in an edge-of-your-seat political thriller.
