January 20, 1942: the heads of Hitler's ministries gathered for a morning "meeting followed by breakfast" at a grand residence on the outskirts of Berlin. The topic for this mundane diplomatic function? The "final solution to the Jewish question." Over the course of 90 minutes, 15 men implemented a plan that would lead to the systematic murder of millions of Jews from across Europe. Adapted from the bureaucratic meeting minutes as recorded by Adolf Eichmann and his secretary, this disturbing and important recreation of history from German filmmaker Matti Geschonneck (IN TIMES OF FADING LIGHT) demonstrates the true banality of evil.
