HAND OF GOD, THE
[È STATA LA MANO DI DIO]
Paolo Sorrentino (THE GREAT BEAUTY, THE YOUNG POPE) reimagines the Naples of his youth in this luminous, semi-autobiographical knockout. Fabietto (Filippo Scotti) is a gawky teen, a small part of a larger-than-life famiglia. When news spreads that Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona has signed to play for Napoli, Fabie and his father (Sorrentino regular Toni Servillo) are overjoyed. But fate has other plans in store as cinema, soccer, life and death intertwine. Hilarious, tragic and a visual feast, this surreal coming-of-age drama has justly drawn comparisons to Federico Fellini's AMARCORD. Winner, Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize and Best Young Actor (Filippo Scotti), 2021 Venice Film Festival. DIR/SCR/PROD Paolo Sorrentino; PROD Lorenzo Mieli. Italy, 2021, color, 130 min. In Italian with English subtitles. RATED R
