THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, THE (1968)

Steve McQueen plays jaded sports- and businessman Thomas Crown, who, purely for the thrill of it all, plans and orchestrates an elaborate heist, executed by a team of freelancers. Faye Dunaway plays Vicki Anderson, a crack insurance investigator who, suspecting Crown is the mastermind behind the heist, begins a sexually charged cat-and-mouse game in order to prove her suspicion is true. Norman Jewison's sophisticated caper features two era-defining stars in McQueen and Dunaway, stylish photography by Haskell Wexler and a gorgeous score and OscarĀ®-winning theme song by Michel Legrand, whose orchestral pop masterpiece "The Windmills of Your Mind," with lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman and performed by Noel Harrison (son of Rex), would become an international sensation, in subsequent years covered by more than 100 different artists in seven different languages. DIR/PROD Norman Jewison; SCR Alan Trustman. U.S., 1968, color, 102 min. NOT RATED
