Released the same year as HOTEL BY THE RIVER, GRASS takes place almost entirely in one pleasant Seoul café. Kim Min-hee (HOTEL BY THE RIVER, ON THE BEACH AT NIGHT ALONE) stars as Areum, who sits alone, typing on her laptop and eavesdropping on other customers. In typical Hong fashion, we soon become aware that nothing is as straightforward as it appears. Scenes are out of order, and we begin to wonder whether Areum is simply recording the events around her or creating the very fiction we are watching.
