NEW MOON (2018)

U.S. Premiere

Experimental filmmaker and photographer Philippa Ndisi-Herrmann embarks on a journey that takes her to the stone town of Lamu on the northeastern coast of Kenya, where a gigantic port project and coal plant threaten to disrupt the rhythms of life. We watch as the filmmaker confronts a new spiritual awareness and commits to a path of self-discovery. Ndisi-Herrmann's visual poetry and richly textured imagery communicate the intangible aspects of spirituality. Winner, Best Documentary, 2018 Durban International Film Festival; Winner, Artistic Achievement Award, 2018 Luxor Film Festival. (Note adapted from Durban International Film Festival.) DIR/SCR/PROD Philippa Ndisi-Herrmann. Kenya, 2018, color/b&w, 70 min. In English and Swahili with English subtitles. NOT RATED
