LILAC TIME (1928)
When a seven-man squad of RAF pilots is billeted to her family's farm in France, jeune fille Jeannine Berthelot (Colleen Moore) becomes something of a mascot to the men as they train for action. But there's one pilot whom Jeannine especially adores, the handsome captain Philip Blythe (Gary Cooper). The captain plays it cool at first, but just before embarking on a major battle, he confesses his love for Jeannine. After he's shot down following a dogfight with Germany's "Red Ace," Jeannine joins an ambulance crew to pull him from the wreckage. Having lost track of her badly wounded beloved in the confusion following the battle, Jeannine searches multiple military hospitals, hoping to see him for what may be the last time.
