Alcoholic has-been actor Frank Elgin (Bing Crosby) is given one last chance to make a comeback — and save his relationship with his frustrated wife Georgie (Grace Kelly) — when Broadway director Bernie Dodd (William Holden) offers him a starring role in a new musical.
