THANK YOU FOR THE RAIN

Co-presented with the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital (DCEFF)

Five years ago, Kenyan farmer Kisilu Musya started using his camera to capture the life of his family and his village, and the impact that climate change is having on both. When a violent storm throws him and a Norwegian filmmaker together, we see him transform from father to community leader to activist on the global stage. After starting a communal farmers' movement and calling for action against the extreme consequences of the weather, Kisilu makes it all the way to Oslo and to the high circles of COP21 in Paris — the UN's Framework Convention on Climate Change. This emotional, earnest and essential film about climate change is driven by Kisilu's point of view and addresses a range of issues linked to climate, including urbanization, gender equality, education, access to water, climate refugees and adaptation. Official Selection, 2017 CPH:DOX, Hot Docs and IDFA film festivals. DIR/SCR Julia Dahr; SCR/PROD Hugh Hartford. Kenya/Norway/UK, 2017, color, 87 min. In English. NOT RATED
