BURNING (2018)
Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and shortlisted for this year's Best Foreign Language Film OscarĀ®, Lee Chang-dong's (POETRY, SECRET SUNSHINE) BURNING is a searing examination of an alienated young man, Jong-su (Yoo Ah-in), a frustrated introvert whose already difficult life is complicated by the appearance of two people into his orbit: first, Hae-mi (newcomer Jeon Jong-seo), a spirited woman who offers romantic possibility, and then Ben (Steven Yeun, SORRY TO BOTHER YOU, THE WALKING DEAD), a wealthy and sophisticated young man she returns from a trip with. When Jong-su learns of Ben's mysterious hobby and Hae-mi disappears, his confusion and obsessions begin to mount, culminating in a stunning finale. (Note adapted from Well Go.)
