HIS KIND OF WOMAN
In this twist-laden Howard Hughes-produced cult favorite, deported crime boss Raymond Burr needs to re-enter the United States to run his operation. His plan involves down-on-his-luck gambler Robert Mitchum, who is persuaded, both by a series of beatings and a substantial sum of money, to sell his identity to Burr. En route to an upscale resort in Baja California, where he must wait, pending further instructions, Mitchum meets Jane Russell, a singer posing as an heiress in the hope of snaring a millionaire. At the resort, the plot thickens as Burr quickly discovers that the ostensibly rich, carefree guests all have hidden agendas — and that Russell has a Hollywood actor boyfriend (Vincent Price) waiting for her. (Note adapted from Warner Bros.) DIR/PROD John Farrow; SCR Frank Fenton, Jack Leonard; PROD Robert Sparks. U.S., 1951, b&w, 120 min. NOT RATED
